A Lesson I Learned From Apples Co-Founder Steve Jobs

I recently watched a video of apples co-founder Steve Jobs. In one of his speeches at a graduation ceremony, he informed people to live each day as your last.

At first, I was quite confused with this statement but I now know why it is important.

Each day that passes we miss the opportunities to do the things we love, which could be hanging out with friends or spending time with family, only to then regret we haven’t done much of it at our death bed.

Our death bed, is the place where we contemplate all of the things we have missed out on. Which is why I now tell myself repeatedly, if today was the last day that I could live, what would I spend it on?

Saying this to yourself, allows you to think of the important parts of your life. However, I do also think our lives shouldn’t only be based on pleasure as we miss the beauty of failing and learning from life's1 lessons. Which is why a balance of the two is important.
